Fire Emblem: Awakening

February 16, 2013 – Fire Emblem: Awakening

I really really enjoyed this. So much so that I replayed it 3 times right away. That’s 4 times in total! Holy shit! I never do that!

Anyway, they took a lot of mechanics from older games and amalgamated them into what I think is possibly the best Fire Emblem yet. Though I do love Radiant Dawn a whole lot. The characters are a little one-dimensional, they mostly have 1 character trait that is emphasized nonstop, but they’re okay I guess. I don’t really play Fire Emblem for the characters. Or the story for that matter, which also is pretty mediocre. I enjoy it for the tactical battles and shit. I played on all three difficulties and I’d say hard is the best. Normal was a little too easy for me, even without grinding, and Lunatic was lolbullshit that I countered with even greater bullshit (lolnosferatu). But Hard hit a nice sweet spot for challenge. The addition of casual mode is good for newcomers to the series and even veterans who can’t stand when their units die, so that’s nice. The DLC is pretty decent for it’s price I guess. I don’t really have a problem with it, but that’s just me.

I guess that’s all I wanted to say aside from this may very well be the goatee for me this year. ALREADY!
